Library and archive

The CDMyD Library and Archive are responsible for the custody, cataloguing, classification and indexation of the different collections (digital, music, periodicals, printed music). Its objective is to gather, preserve and offer users the publications published and produced in Spain related to music and dance as well as the collections entering the Center.

The CDMyD Library holds more than 27,500 records on modern monographs, musical scores, sound recordings, audiovisuals, programs and posters related to music and dance, produced and created in Spain , and the recollection of all types of works in both fields whose origins is Spain.

The periodicals collection features 602 titles. The Library subscribes to national and foreign music and dance whether general or technical journals

ESince its beginnings, the Center has received several bequests and donations from personal collections like:

  • A legacy from the dancer Antonio Ruiz
  • A donation of the collection of printed music, press clippings and photographs of the composer Luis Fraca Royo.
  • A photographic archive of the Royal Theater by photographer Gyenes (1966-1988).
  • The archive of Musical Iconography from the Ancient Music Studies Seminary (Sema).

Entrance is free for anyone or any institution to consult our collections as well as our databases with the logical limitations on copyrights and the dissemination of private data.
