How to obtain an ISMN?

The publisher requests the Agency for a publishing house prefix identifying its company and allowing the assignment of a number to the items they publish. Once the application form has been filled in, the National Agency will assign the publisher an ID number. The Agency will issue an ISMN list to the publisher and, in accordance with it, the publisher will assign different numbers to its publications. The publisher will fill in a form for each one of those which will have to be approved by the National Agency.

For author-publishers or institutions that publish on an occasional basis, the Agency will directly assign a number to each publication.

If you need more information, the Agency publishes a "Users Manual".
